Heads of the Mykolaiv regional center of medical and social expertise (MSEK), which was exposed for the organization of corruption schemes for evaders, has not yet announced the suspicion.

Acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office Denys Falchenko said this on Thursday, October 30, Ukrinform reports.

As the head of the prosecutor’s office explained, the woman has not yet been declared a suspect because the investigation is ongoing.

The investigation in this case is conducted by the SBU, and procedural supervision is carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense,” Falchenko noted.

On October 22, the SBU announced that during a search of an MSEK official in the Mykolaiv region, they found $450,000, as well as a Russian passport belonging to her son.

As the SBU reported, most of the seized money and jewelry was found in the apartment of her son, an intern at a medical university. According to the investigation, a collection of jewelry was also found in the suspect’s possession, which she hid at various addresses.

Corruption scandals and liquidation of MSEK — what is known

The scandal with MSEK began after the exposure of the head of the commission in Khmelnytskyi region – Tetyana Krupa, from whom the law enforcement officers found almost $6 million in cash in various currencies and a number of forged medical documents, lists of evasive persons with names and false diagnoses.

According to the mass media, hundreds of prosecutors, tax officials and officials of other state bodies could be illegally disabled.

After the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council regarding the MSEK, the president issued a decree on combating corruption and other offenses during the establishment of disability for officials. MSEK will be liquidated from December 31, 2024.

Against the background of the scandal, former Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin announced that he was resigning. According to him, the first six heads of prosecutor’s offices, who received increased pensions, have already written applications for dismissal.
