It will be difficult for Ukraine to mobilize more than 160,000 men over the next three months. This was stated by a high-ranking Ukrainian official, commenting on the statement of the Secretary of the National Security Council Oleksandr Lytvynenko regarding mobilization, writes BBC Ukraine on Wednesday, October 30.

According to the publication’s source, the number of 160,000 recruits announced by Lytvynenko is a level that will be very difficult to reach.

These are, so to speak, not realistic numbers, but a higher bar — the result we strive for. But it is far from a fact that it will be possible to collect such a number,” said the interlocutor.

He noted that everyone who wanted to join the Defense Forces had already done so. Currently, mobilization is difficult, conscripts do not want to fight.

At the same time, recruitment is necessary to cover losses at the front. According to the official, there is no question of preparing new units for a theoretical counteroffensive in 2025.

On October 29, Oleksandr Lytvynenko, Secretary of the National Security Council, speaking in the Verkhovna Rada, announced that 1 million 50 thousand citizens have been mobilized so far. Over the next three months, it is planned to call up “more than 160,000”. This, according to him, will allow the military units to be staffed up to 85%.

On May 18, a new law on mobilization entered into force in Ukraine, which provided for a deadline for updating military registration data by Ukrainian conscripts and reservists. This term expired on July 16.

According to The New York Times, after the new law came into force, Ukraine mobilized 30,000 people a month.

On July 7, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Kateryna Chornogorenko, stated that more than 3.4 million Ukrainians had updated their data, including 83,500 updates abroad.

On September 23, Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov said that over the past year, mobilization indicators in Ukraine have tripled. Also, according to him, opportunities for training the Ukrainian military have expanded five times. The next step is TCC reform.

In October, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war Yevgeny Dykiy told Radio NV in an interview that the pace of mobilization in Ukraine has fallen again to the May value, and now it does not even cover combat losses.

On October 15, the adviser to the head of the Office of the President, Serhiy Leshchenko, stated that the USA is pressuring Zelenskyi with a call to lower the mobilization age to 18. On October 9, the Rada banned the mobilization of Ukrainians under the age of 25.
