The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, said that the social benefits that Ukrainians receive in Germany should be returned to Ukraine. According to him, this should encourage men to return to Ukraine.
Sikorsky said this on Wednesday, October 23, on TVP Info, RMF24 reports.
As the TV channel notes, Sikorsky commented live on the meeting in Berlin of the leaders of four states — Germany, the United States, Great Britain and France.
Sikorskyi noted that Poland’s presence at meetings where Ukraine is discussed is also important. According to him, then “better decisions are made”.
“An instrument of hybrid warfare.” Poland wants to limit the influx of refugees — how will it affect Ukrainians
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland also said that he met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and advised him to give social benefits to Ukraine instead of Ukrainian refugees.
“I suggested to him that the aid that Ukrainian refugees receive — which can be up to 1,200 euros per month — would be better transferred directly to Ukraine. It’s not good that there is a financial incentive to be in Germany instead of men fighting at the front and women rebuilding the tax base,” Sikorsky said.
On September 12, Sikorskyi already stated that other countries should stop paying funds to Ukrainian refugees, because it supposedly has a bad effect on the “mobilization potential.”
On May 25, Sikorskyi stated that any scheme of restrictions for Ukrainian men of draft age in the EU should be pan-European, otherwise mobilization evaders “will start buying benefits all over Europe.”
