The Ukrainian mass media should “correctly” cover such sensitive topics as the mobilization and activities of the TCC, and not be led by Russian fakes.

This is reported in the statement of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting.

“The National Council calls on the media for a correct and professional approach in covering sensitive topics, in particular the process of mobilization and the activities of the TCC. These topics are subject to special informational attacks due to the active focus and spread of fakes by the enemy,” the message reads.

The National Council noted that the enemy is actively trying to create a negative attitude in Ukrainian society towards the process of mobilization and the activities of the TCC in order to reduce the country’s defense capability.

According to the national project on media literacy “Filter”, the Russian authorities have invested 1.6 billion dollars in the state budget for propaganda. Most of the informational efforts of the Russian Federation are aimed at the Ukrainian audience.

The National Council emphasizes that, first of all, Russian propaganda tries to:

  • promote through the media disinformation related to mobilization processes in Ukraine;
  • to manipulate public opinion, seeking to discredit Ukrainian state institutions and the army;
  • to disorient and intimidate the population, to divide society through fabricated controversies and elaborate disinformation narratives and, as a result, to reduce international support for Ukraine.

The National Council calls on the Ukrainian media to carefully study sources, including foreign ones, in the case of coverage of a controversial case of detention of a person by representatives of the TCC, to “carefully” use quotes, to carry out fact-checking.

Earlier, the head of the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting Olha Gerasimyuk reacted to the blocking of Ukrainian intelligence bots in Telegram. She believes that the state should stop official communication in the messenger.

The National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting asked the managers of The Walt Disney Company to include a segment awarding the authors of the Ukrainian tape “20 Days in Mariupol” in the international television version of the “Oscar” ceremony.
