Deepfakes, bots, Russian music and computer games: Ukraine created a miniseries that combats disinformation

Deepfakes, bots, Russian music and computer games: a miniseries was created in Ukraine that combats disinformation. The Ukrainian miniseries with 5 episodes shows the impact of Russian propaganda on everyday life. The project with the participation of opinion leaders demonstrates how misinformation changes the thinking and culture of Ukrainians.”, — write on: unn.ua

In Ukraine, they created a mini-series that combats disinformation, because Russians spread disinformation, in particular through bloggers, bots, commissioned articles and even children’s video games. This was reported by the initiator of the project, Bohdan Tymoshchuk, reports UNN.

Tymoshchuk noted that the Russian special operation “Maidan-3” is literally happening before our eyes: the enemies know the most vulnerable points of Ukrainians and appeal to them through bloggers, bots, commissioned articles and even children’s video games, polarizing Ukrainian society.

In order for Ukrainians to monitor their information space more closely, a miniseries about disinformation was filmed in Ukraine. It shows how even in the most everyday situations, Russian propaganda and IPSO influence people’s thinking and change Ukrainian culture.

According to him, the series consists of five short episodes that force viewers to take a closer look at their information space. Not just boring stories were prepared for them, but real life situations were simulated in which everyone gets to know themselves or their loved ones. These are the influence of hyperbolized news reporting on people of mature age, and listening to Russian music that not only sponsors war, but also erodes Ukrainian culture, and deepfakes of presidential addresses, and even hostile informational suggestions to children through video games.

“Many Ukrainians still do not realize how much Russian propaganda and IPSO influence them. Every day we come into contact with dozens of pro-Russian narratives, we spread them not only through reposts on social networks, but also in the kitchen among the family. If you think that this has only been happening in recent years – unfortunately, no! Active informational influence has been exerting on us since 2014: information bubbles, bot farms, soft power of culture – all these are effective weapons in the war against Ukrainians,” said opinion leader and initiator of the project Bohdan Tymoshchuk.

Opinion leaders, including Masha Yefrosinina, Timur and Inna Miroshnychenko, Nataliya Ostrovska, Anatoly Anatolich, Yula, Yevhen Pronin, as well as professional actors joined the filming of each series.

The series can be viewed on the official website of the Kyiv City Council.
