The Central Election Commission explained that the decision to restore the work of the State Register of Voters in the part of accounting of permanent polling stations is part of planned annual technical works.

Details: The Central Election Commission published Decision No. 54 dated September 20, 2024 on the restoration of the automated information and communication system “State Register of Voters” in the part of the registration of polling stations that operate on a permanent basis.
As noted in the document, the CEC is the administrator of the State Register of Voters and is responsible for its maintenance in accordance with the legislation. One of the key tasks of the registry is the registration of polling stations that exist on a permanent basis.
“Ukrainian Pravda” inquired about the reasons for this decision in the Department of Communications and Information Policy of the Secretariat of the CEC. They explained that updating the register is a planned work that is carried out every year.
“This is a regular planned work that is carried out continuously. We have a large number of internally displaced persons and destroyed premises. We have already carried out certain measures, and now it is time to update the information about the polling stations. This does not mean that elections will be in the near future – it is exclusively about planned technical work. Such measures take place every year in accordance with the regulations. The main goal is to prepare the database for possible elections after the end of the war. This is only technical work, and it is not about the organization of elections,” the commission commented.
The CEC also emphasized that the register is not yet open for public use, internal technical work is currently underway.
“At the moment, only the part of the register related to the polling stations has been restored. Other areas are not active yet. Our task now is to update the data on the polling stations that are functioning on a permanent basis. In previous years, we also carried out technical work – checking the connection and operational efficiency registry,” added the CEC.

On November 10, 2023, member of the Central Election Commission Andriy Gevko reported in the “UP Talk Show” that they are now actively working to restore the state voter register, however, in any case, they plan to hold elections after the end of the war.
According to him, it is important for the CEC to have an up-to-date list of voters in the elections so that all citizens who have the right to vote can use it.
