In the USA, the first lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, visited Massachusetts, where she met with the governor of the state Maura Gilly, as well as students, teachers and leaders of the Ukrainian Research Institute of Harvard University.

During the meeting with Mora Gili, the President’s wife thanked her for her active pro-Ukrainian position.

In the state of Massachusetts, in particular, there is the Ukrainian Cultural Center of New England. And the doctors of the burn center of the local children’s hospital have been saving young Ukrainians for over 20 years. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, they have also helped with the rehabilitation and prosthetics of the wounded.

In addition, Olena Zelenska visited Harvard University and handed over books from the Kharkiv printing house that survived the Russian missile attack in May to its library.

“We want to keep the few copies that were found as a memory. And as evidence of what Russia is doing to us. The Harvard Library is a special place for this. Because here is one of the largest collections of Ukrainian literature in the world,” the first lady said.

She also met with students, teachers and leaders of the Ukrainian Scientific Institute of Harvard University.

“Today’s visit gives me a rare opportunity to personally thank the Harvard administration, professors and students of the university for their support of Ukraine. You can speak Ukrainian in the walls of Harvard, as I do today, without an interpreter. Because they will understand here,” said the President’s wife.

At Harvard, Olena Zelenska also took part in a round table with donors and representatives of the Ukrainian Scientific Institute. Among the participants are the director of the institution Serhiy Plokhiy, former heads of the institute Roman Shporlyuk, Hryhoriy Grabovych, Michael Flyer, First Deputy Minister of Education of Ukraine Yevhen Kudryavets and adviser to the President of Ukraine Olga Budnyk.

The main topic of the meeting is the development of the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies, which aims to unite all initiatives aimed at the study and research of Ukrainian culture, history, language and literature.

Olena Zelenska noted that it was the activities of Harvard University that started this coalition.

“Spreading knowledge about Ukraine in the world, about our history, culture is also an important form of resistance to the aggressor. After all, he wants to destroy us not only physically, but also mentally. But the more Ukrainian studios in the world – such as Harvard’s – the more protected Ukraine is,” the first lady concluded.
