Trump received a warning about an assassination threat from Iran

The US presidential candidate from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, was informed on Tuesday by representatives of US intelligence about possible threats from Iran regarding his assassination, writes Reuters with reference to his campaign headquarters, reports UNN.

President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding real and specific threats from Iran to kill him in order to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States

Iranian threats have “increased over the past few months,” according to intelligence, and US officials are working to protect Trump and prevent the election from being affected.

Trump later said on his Truth Social website about “major threats” to his life from Iran, adding that Iran’s moves had not been successful, “but they will try again.”

Iran has previously denied US accusations of meddling in American affairs.

Earlier this month, a Pakistani man suspected of ties to Iran pleaded not guilty to charges of allegedly plotting to kill an American politician in retaliation for the 2020 US killing of Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani.

Federal authorities are separately investigating the assassination attempt on Trump at his golf course in Florida in mid-September and the July 13 shooting of the Republican presidential candidate at a rally in Pennsylvania. There were no signs of Iranian involvement in any of these cases, Reuters noted.

US government agencies said last week that Iranian hackers sent emails containing stolen campaign materials from the former Republican president to people involved in the campaign of then-Democratic President Joe Biden.

In August, the United States accused Iran of carrying out cyber operations against the campaigns of both US presidential candidates. Iran has rejected these accusations.

Tehran says Washington has been meddling in its affairs for decades, citing events ranging from a 1953 coup against its prime minister to the 2020 assassination of its military commander in a US drone strike.
