The lower house of the Swiss parliament recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide

The National Council (lower house of the parliament) of Switzerland recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people. This is stated in the statement, which the National Council approved by a majority of votes.
123 Swiss parliamentarians voted “for”, 58 were “against” and 7 abstained.

“The National Council clearly recognizes systematic actions that lead to starvation on a large scale and are deliberate and committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group as such, by genocide,” the statement said.

The text states that four million Ukrainians, about two million Kazakhs and hundreds of thousands of Russians died during the famine in Ukraine in 1932 and 1933.
