TikTok has removed accounts linked to Russian state media for “participating in covert influence operations.”
This was reported by Sky News.
It is noted that this is part of the social network’s efforts to prevent disinformation on the eve of the November presidential elections in the United States, according to the publication.
These are the accounts of the Rossiya Segodnya media group, which owns the information services of RIA Novosti and Sputnik, as well as TV-Novosti, the parent structure of the RT channel.
The social network recalled that previously access to the accounts was restricted in Great Britain and the EU, and their content worldwide was marked as state-controlled media.
However, they are now believed to be banned forever.
We will remind:
Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, said it was banning RT and a number of other state-run Russian media outlets.
