Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) together with the SBU exposed the battalion commander of one of the military units who demanded money from his subordinates for the opportunity to remain on duty in Transcarpathia. The figure and his accomplice were arrested and face up to 10 years in prison.
The commander offered his subordinates to pay for the opportunity to stay in the rear by engaging a trusted person to collect funds. The law enforcement officers recorded the fact of receiving 1,300 US dollars from one of the servicemen for inclusion in the list of rearguards. Other soldiers also paid for places in the guard company.
According to preliminary data, the commander’s accomplice received 300,000 hryvnias and about 30,000 US dollars in cash in his bank accounts. Both of them were charged with receiving illegal benefits under Part 5 of Article 27 and Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
At the moment, the investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are establishing the details of the illegal activity and other persons involved in this scheme.
Earlier, we wrote that the Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) detained an expositor-collaborator who cooperated with the Russian Federation during the occupation of Kherson. He helped the invaders torture local residents.
We will also remind you that the details of the SBU’s detention in Odesa of a group of Russian agents who were preparing an attack on the city’s authorities have become known. It turned out that the leader of the pro-Russian group was Oleg Maltsev, who organized the so-called “Odesa Templars” cell.
