The end of the war is “closer than many people think” – Zelensky in an interview with ABC

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who is in the United States on a visit, gave an interview to the ABC television company in which he said that the end of the war started by Russia is “closer than many think.”

In short quotes presented by the television company as an announcement, the president of Ukraine says that his victory plan, which he will present to US President Joe Biden on September 26, is to “strengthen Ukraine”: “That is why we are asking our friends, our allies to strengthen us. This is extremely important.”

“In my opinion, we are closer to peace than many people think. We are closer to the end of the war,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized. Answering the question whether his “victory plan” includes negotiations with Russia, and whether he is ready to trust Russia, the President of Ukraine stated that the peace plan is not about negotiations with Russia. He called it a bridge to a diplomatic solution to the conflict. The essence of his proposals is to strengthen Ukraine.

“Only from a position of strength will we be able to push Putin to peace through diplomacy,” Zelenskyy said. According to him, Putin is frightened by Ukraine’s military operation in the Kursk region, because the Russians saw that he is not capable of defending the territory of his own country.

On September 25, Volodymyr Zelenskyy will speak at the session of the UN General Assembly in New York. He has scheduled meetings with the leaders of many countries, some of which he already held on September 23. The President of Ukraine had conversations with the Chancellor of Germany, the Prime Ministers of Japan and India, the President of Paraguay, as well as the bipartisan delegation of the US Congress.
