In Kazakhstan, at the request of the Russian Federation, a Russian citizen, the founder of the Oxford Team language school in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Yevhen Nakaznenko, who opposes the war in Ukraine and asked for political asylum, was detained. Journalist Yevgenia Baltatarova wrote about the detention. Nakaznenka’s lawyer Dias Kentayuli Akhmetov confirmed this information.

“He is asking not to be extradited. He does not admit his guilt. He believes that all this is invented and far-fetched,” said the defender.

According to the lawyer, Nakaznenko was detained on September 17 at the Almaty airport when he wanted to fly to Istanbul. The court placed him under extradition arrest for 40 days.

Akhmetov said that cases were brought against the businessman under the articles of “justification of terrorism” and military “fakes”. On August 8, Rosfinmonitoring added Nakaznenka to its register as a person involved in the case under the article on terrorism. On August 27, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia declared the man wanted, Mediazona notes.

Nakaznenko published clips on social networks criticizing the Russian authorities and condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Journalist Baltatarova wrote that pro-Russian blogger Anton Budarov was outraged by Nakaznenko’s position, recorded a video about him for his YouTube channel and called to pay attention to the entrepreneur and imprison him. The video was published after Nakaznenka was announced as wanted.
