Details: In particular, Umerov announced commitments regarding the delivery of the F-16, as well as the Mirage-2000.

“Commitment talks or consultations are ongoing for the Gripens, consultations are ongoing for the Eurofighters. So that’s a very good list of platforms and we’re discussing when they’re going to start. Soon we’ll have the results to announce. I hope , we will inform soon,” said the minister.

According to him, earlier the department was focused on pilot training, on the infrastructure for fighters, as well as on operational platforms, and now it is aimed at achieving air superiority over the Russian Armed Forces.

“We worked last year to focus on pilot training, on getting the platforms, on building all the necessary infrastructure, and this year we will focus on how to scale it up enough to have an advantage over the enemy in the air. Those processes are already in place, but need scaling, and we are currently working on this. And we already have solutions that we are already working on with our partners,” Umyerov noted.

Speaking about the negotiations with foreign partners on the supply of aircraft, the minister noted: “The enemy uses up to 300 aircraft, up to 300 helicopters, so we explain to our partners how many brigades or wings we need. We also explain to them reasonably what platforms we need, what weapons they must have.”

What preceded: On September 20, the French Armed Forces announced the completion of the training of the first group of Ukrainian pilots who trained on Alphajet aircraft.

Earlier it became known that the first group of Ukrainian pilots began theoretical training on F-16 fighters in Romania, and may proceed to practical training in the next few months.

The mass media wrote that pilots from Ukraine will pilot training F-16s provided to Romania by the Netherlands. This should allay concerns over Russia’s threats to shoot down NATO planes flying into Ukraine.
