Another unsuccessful test of the intercontinental ballistic missile RS-28 “Sarmat” took place at the Plesetsk cosmodrome in Russia, which led to an explosion in a mine and large-scale destruction of the infrastructure of the Jubilee launch pad. Writes UNN with reference to Radio Svoboda.

According to an OSINT analyst on the X social network, it is about the failed test of the Russian RS-28 “Sarmat” intercontinental ballistic missile, which exploded in a mine, effectively destroying the infrastructure of the Jubilee launch pad.

The expert suggests that the cause of the explosion could have been liquid rocket fuel during refueling, that is, the launch could never have taken place. This is the fourth unsuccessful test of the Sarmat missile.

The only successful launch, as claimed by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, took place on April 20, 2022 from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome. Despite this, in February 2024, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin announced that the “Sarmatians” had already entered the army.

We will remind

Russia has put the Sarmat strategic missile complex on duty in the second half of 2023. Despite the fact that the complex was announced back in 2022 – then in April it was announced that the complex had allegedly been successfully tested. In February 2023, during the official visit of US President Joe Biden to Kyiv, Russia probably launched a Sarmat missile. However, this launch was not successful.

The RS-28 “Sarmat” ICBM is supposed to replace the RS-20V “Voivode” mine-based strategic missile (according to NATO classification – SS-18 “Satan”) – this is a strategic missile complex with a liquid intercontinental ballistic missile of a heavy class, the weight of one such missile exceeds 200 tons Apparently, it can change the flight path, overcome any air defense systems and carry more than ten warheads to the target.
