On September 12, 2024, the Russian army committed another war crime, striking three vehicles of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the village of Virolyubivka in Donetsk region during the distribution of humanitarian aid.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine collected evidence confirming this incident.

As a result of the attack, three men were killed, and two of their colleagues received shrapnel wounds and mine-explosive injuries. At the scene of the incident, two artillery shell hits and one hit by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) were found.

The investigation established that the attack was carried out by two high-explosive artillery shells of 152 mm caliber and the Lancet barrage ammunition, which is in the service of the Rashists. This indicates the deliberate nature of the attack, as the projectiles were used in conjunction with a drone equipped with a laser rangefinder to detect and engage targets.

The analysis of the wreckage and the direction of the impact showed that the artillery units that fired were probably in the area of the village of Yagidne in the occupied territory of the Donetsk region. According to the investigation, units of the 1065th Artillery Regiment of the 98th Airborne Division and 200 separate motorized rifle brigade, armed with artillery systems for 152 mm shells and Lancet unmanned aerial vehicle, took part in the fighting.

To prevent similar shelling in the future, the Defense Council of the Donetsk region introduced a ban on the movement of representatives of charitable organizations in frontline communities without the appropriate approval of the regional military administration.

Earlier we wrote that the Red Cross of Ukraine denied the reports that appeared earlier on the network and related to the closure of the mission in Dnipro.

We will also remind you that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) strongly condemned the shelling by the Russians of a humanitarian mission truck in the Donetsk region on September 12. As a result of the attack, three employees of the ICRC were killed, and two more were injured.
