Social network X (formerly Twitter) has appointed a legal representative in Brazil to meet one of the requirements set by Brazil’s highest court to allow the company to operate in the country.

About this informs Reuters.

Brazilian law requires foreign companies to appoint a legal representative to operate in the country. This representative assumes the legal responsibilities of the firm at the local level. Company X had a legal representative in Brazil until mid-August, when it decided to close its offices in the country.

Andre Zonaro and Sergio Rosenthal, who were recently appointed X lawyers in Brazil, told Reuters that their colleague Rachel de Oliveira Conceicao had been selected as the firm’s legal representative and that they had submitted her nomination to the Supreme Court.

We will remind:

Elon Musk’s satellite Internet provider Starlink changed course and said that will fulfill Brazil’s highest court order blocking access to X.
