Chess Olympiad. Ukraine lost to Uzbekistan and is out of the top 20

On September 18, the matches of the 7th round took place in Budapest, Hungary of the 2024 Chess Olympiad.

Men’s national team of Ukraine conceded to the team Uzbekistan (1:3). Andriy Volokitin and Ruslan Ponomaryev lost games, Vasyl Ivanchuk and Anton Korobov drew.

The men’s Ukrainian team has 10 points out of 14 and occupies the 21st position. The team is leading of Indiawhich in the key match beat China (2.5:1.5) and scored 14 points out of 14. Iran (13 each), Uzbekistan, Hungary, Armenia, Serbia (12 each) followed.

Women’s national team of Ukraine parted ways with the team of Poland (2:2). Natalia Buksa won, but Yulia Osmak lost. Anna Ushenina and Inna Gaponenko ended the game in a draw.

The women’s Ukrainian team scored 11 points out of 14 and is in 10th place. The team is leading of India – 14 out of 14. Poland, Kazakhstan, and France follow (12 each).

196 men’s and 182 women’s national teams took part in the competition. 11 rounds will be played, the competition will last until September 22.
