A modernized bacteriological laboratory became operational on the basis of the Clinical Center of Children’s Medicine in Lviv. The first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska and Lord Ashcroft, who became a donor of this project, were present at the opening.

At the initiative of the Olena Zelenska Foundation, the premises of the bacteriological laboratory were overhauled, medical equipment and furniture were purchased.

“Timely and effective diagnosis is vital for the center’s patients. Therefore, it was important for us and the Foundation to support the modernization of the laboratory. The Foundation implements all projects with the help of friends of Ukraine – foreign patrons. And such a partner for the laboratory became Lord Michael Ashcroft, a person who does not care, who is ready to make life better together with us. In this case, it is literally to save children’s lives,” said the founder of the Foundation, Olena Zelenska.

It was possible to implement this project thanks to the charitable contribution of Lord Ashcroft in the amount of 200,000 dollars.

“I share the first lady’s conviction that Ukrainian children are innocent victims of this terrible war. We should do everything possible to support them, especially those who have health problems,” he said.

The Clinical Center of Children’s Medicine is one of the few in Ukraine, where, in particular, bone marrow and kidney transplants are carried out. Every year, more than 20,000 children from all over the country receive inpatient treatment here. However, until now, the institution has not been able to quickly and qualitatively conduct diagnostics.

“Now doctors and laboratory assistants will work in comfortable conditions and on modern medical equipment. The laboratory will soon undergo accreditation to work according to the international ISO standard,” said the head of the Elena Zelenska Foundation, Nina Horbachova.

About 18,000 children will be able to be examined in the updated laboratory every year.
