Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina announced that she underwent leg surgery, due to which she will prematurely end her performances in the 2024 season.

“Unfortunately, my 2024 season is history as I had surgery on my foot today to correct a long standing problem that I have been trying to resolve this year.
This is the same problem that caused me to end the 2023 season early and that has plagued me for most of 2024. It became more difficult to deal with, and it affected me more and more, not only in tennis and during training, but also in my everyday life.
I am excited to be able to focus on my recovery and come back stronger than before. Determined to do everything possible to return to the court and compete at the highest level,” Svitolina wrote on Instagram.
Svitolina is currently ranked 28th in the WTA ranking. The Ukrainian’s best result at the Grand Slams in 2024 was the Wimbledon quarterfinals.
It was previously reported that Svitolina showed how she celebrated her 30th birthday at a party in Kyiv.
