Intel Foundry will have its own board of directors and the ability to raise external capital. This move will provide customers and suppliers with a clearer separation and independence of the “daughter” from the rest of the corporation.
Intel Foundry’s partnership with Amazon Web ServicesIntel announced the expansion of its strategic cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS), which includes joint investment in the development of individual chips.
Intel Foundry will produce AI chips based on the new 18A technical process for AWS. Close cooperation is expected in other projects, including the creation of a special Xeon 6 chip on Intel 3.
Award from the USAThe company reported receiving up to $3 billion in direct funding from the US government as part of the Secure Enclave program. It is designed to ensure the expansion of reliable manufacturing of advanced semiconductors for the government.
Efficient productionIntel Foundry has increased capacity in Europe through a plant in Ireland, the company’s leading European hub. The corporation will suspend projects in Poland and Germany for approximately two years.
In Malaysia, the construction of a new factory is planned to be completed, the launch “will take place according to market conditions”.
“Taken together, these changes are critical steps forward as we build a compact, simple and efficient Intel,” Gelsinger said in a statement.
The company’s shares rose by 6% after the announcement of the upcoming changes.

In early August, Intel announced layoffs of 15% of its workforce, or about 15,000 employees, amid falling behind in the AI race. The firm reported a loss of $1.6 billion for the second quarter.
