According to the head of state, during the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukrainian rescuers went to shelling sites more than 170,000 times and extinguished more than 20,000 fires, while sappers of the State Emergency Service defused more than half a million explosive objects.
As reported in the press service of the president, during a meeting with the staff of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Zelensky, in particular, presented the Order of the “Golden Star” to the relatives of the fallen Hero of Ukraine, Lieutenant Colonel of the Civil Defense Service Artem Kostyra.
“The lieutenant colonel participated more than 70 times in eliminating the consequences of Russian shelling. After the deoccupation of Kharkiv region, he organized the restoration of almost a hundred damaged fire and rescue units. Thanks to him, it was possible to evacuate more than 2,400 people. Artem Kostyria died this year on July 13 during the liquidation of the consequences of enemy shelling, when the Russian occupiers struck again with a ballistic missile,” the message reads.
