“Due to gusts of wind, a fire broke out in 2 private houses and 3 farm buildings in the village of Balivka Also, 3 residential buildings and 4 outbuildings in the village caught fire. Sobkivka – 6 residents were evacuated from there,” rescuers say.
The State Emergency Service noted that information on additionally damaged houses and structures is being clarified.
The department also reminded that the total area covered by the fire is about 680 hectares. Dry grass and forest litter are burning on an area of about 70 hectares.
Earlier, on September 7, the Ministry of Environment reported that extinguishing of fires in the Chernobyl zone continues, the fire has spread over 2,600 hectares. The agency notes that due to the situation in the exclusion zone, control over the radiation situation has been strengthened. Now there is no threat to critical infrastructure in the region, the radiation background is normal.
