“This evening, September 16, the enemy carried out an air strike on the city of Konotop, using a Shahed-type UAV. All necessary services are available on site. The consequences of the enemy attack are being clarified,” the message read at 10:48 p.m.
After midnight on September 17, the authorities published a similar message regarding Sumy.
“Tonight, the enemy, using the Shahed UAV, launched a massive air strike on the city of Sumy. The consequences of the attack are being clarified, all services are working to eliminate the consequences of the attack. Air defense forces are actively conducting anti-aircraft combat and countering enemy strikes,” OVA reported at 0:25.
As of 1:10 a.m. on September 17, the air alert continues in Sumy Oblast, as well as in Chernihiv, Kyiv, Poltava Oblasts, and Kyiv.
On the night of September 12, Russian troops carried out a “Shakhed” attack on energy and civil infrastructure facilities of the Konotop community. The mayor of the city, Artem Semenikhin, said that the situation with electricity supply in the city is critical – the energy infrastructure has suffered significant damage.
Local authorities reported that 14 people were injured as a result of the attack.
