Building a PS5 Pro level PC will require at least an RTX 4070 / collageThe long-awaited announcement of the PS5 Pro turned out to be highly controversial due to Sony’s pricing choices. While the PS4 Pro launched at the same price as the base PS4 ($399), the PS5 Pro was $300 more expensive than the regular PS5, surprising both fans and analysts (although the latter still believe that eventually it will sell as well as the PS4 Pro).At the same time, some gamers began to wonder whether it would be better for them to just buy a new computer. However, graphics experts at Digital Foundry told IGN that a PC that matches the performance of the PS5 Pro will cost “much more.”
Digital Foundry said that a PC comparable in gaming performance to the PS5 Pro should include an RTX 4070. In the US, such a video card costs about $540 (~23,000 UAH). At the same time, all existing accelerators from AMD will not work, since they do not have cores to accelerate ray tracing, as in the PS5 Pro. But Nvidia has similar cores.
In addition to a video card, other components will be needed to assemble a PC: a processor with a cooling system, a motherboard, RAM, a storage device, a case and a power supply. At the exit, such an assembly will cost more than 1,000 dollars (~42,000 UAH).
Digital Foundry also believes that the PS5 Pro is aimed at PlayStation enthusiasts who already own a base PS5 and have built up a large library of games. Users who need improved graphics and more fps will switch to a Pro console without huge financial costs.

Sony has confirmed that “40 to 50 games” will be optimized for the new console when it launches on November 7. The Last of Us Part II remaster, Spider-Man 2, and other titles will be marked PS5 Pro Enhanced, which emphasizes improvements such as increased resolution and frame rate.
As for the new generation, the release of the PS6 is expected around 2028. At the same time, if rumors are to be believed, Microsoft will release a new generation of Xbox a year or two earlier than Sony in order to repeat the success of the Xbox 360, that is, as early as 2026.
