Marta Kostyuk, the number one player of Ukraine, commented on the victory over Aranchaia Rus (6:3, 6:1) in the first round of the WTA tournament in Seoul:
“Today was difficult playing conditions: high humidity and very dark. I haven’t trained here in the evening, so it was a bit unusual. My opponent, Arancha Rus, is an excellent tennis player and an incredible fighter. I was ready for a real struggle. My goal was to play aggressively, to use my arsenal, so I’m happy that it worked.
My tournament goals? I’m here to win. Today I had great support, I am grateful to the audience. I didn’t even expect this. This is my first performance in Seoul, I like both the support here and the competition itself. I hope I can go all the way in the tournament.”
