Ukraine should be an “important element” of the world security structure – Yermak

“The peace formula is the way to not only end this war with a just peace, but also to restore the true spirit of international law and the strength of the UN Charter””, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org

Ukraine’s efforts are aimed at a fair end to the war and the formation of a “reliable world security architecture, in which it will play one of the key roles,” noted the head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, said at the 20th annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy.

“The peace formula is a way not only to end this war with a just peace, but also to restore the true spirit of international law and the power of the UN Charter,” Yermak emphasized.

He noted that “during the first Peace Summit, dozens of countries at the same table discussed the prospects of restoring a just peace. All of them declared respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”

The head of the Office of the Head of State expressed his belief that “Ukraine will definitely be at the center of the future structure of world security. The country is actively working towards the formation of its architecture, the result of which is already 26 bilateral security agreements, as well as the Ukraine Compact, adopted during the 75th NATO summit in Washington.”

According to Yermak, Ukraine is signing documents “which not only take into account the current situation, but also provide guarantees for the future and record the corresponding obligations of partners.”

The head of the President’s Office noted that “Ukraine should eventually receive an invitation to NATO, and this will be the easiest and most effective step to guarantee its security.”

In total, Ukraine has already concluded 26 bilateral agreements to implement the G7 Joint Declaration adopted in Vilnius on July 12, 2023.

On September 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi called the expected counteroffensive of the Russian military in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation and noted that “this is according to our Ukrainian plan.”

During the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of Russia, Kyiv declared that it had gained control over more than a thousand square kilometers of territory, and over hundreds of captured soldiers of the Russian army.

It was previously reported that the operation was aimed at improving Kyiv’s position in the event of peace negotiations. Analysts also suggest that the operation is aimed at conveying to the Russians the seriousness of an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

It was the first foreign invasion of Russian territory since World War II.
