“At the moment, the situation is quite tense – the enemy is attacking actively, using armored vehicles, assault groups, artillery, FPV drones, guided air bombs. However, despite all this, in some other areas of the front, our forces are advancing and capturing new locations. In other words, we have something like the fact that in some places the enemy is storming, and in others the Ukrainian armed forces are storming other areas,” Galamai said.
The press officer of another unit fighting in the Kursk region, Oleksiy Dmytrashkivskyi, confirmed the success of the Armed Forces in some areas of the Kursk region. Instead, the counteroffensive of the Russian forces, he says, was not very successful.
“On the first day of the counteroffensive of the Russian troops, it was simply “victorious” about the fact that everything, “we have almost won, everyone is already running, hooray, we have won.” In fact, the counterattack that began, of course, they went a little unexpectedly and not where they were expected, but the success was insignificant. To date, the situation has stabilized, in some localities our military has been successful,” Dmytrashkivskyi noted.
Both military officers talk about mass shelling by Russian troops of civilian objects in the Kursk region.
In particular, according to the platoon commander of the 3rd “Nakhtigal” battalion, a few days ago three anti-aircraft missiles arrived in Suja in a row: “They (troops of the Russian Federation – ed.) hit residential buildings, not some industrial facilities. As a result, a large-scale fire started there among residential buildings. We were just passing by after that. They don’t care if they hit civilian objects in Ukraine or in Russia.” – says Galamai.
In turn, Dmytroshkivskyi adds that “it is necessary to spend a lot of effort to convince that it is not Ukrainian military personnel who are shooting,” because the Armed Forces “cannot shoot by themselves.”
Earlier this week, the Ukrainian OSINT resource DeepState reported on the deterioration of the situation on the left (western) flank of the Ukrainian group, which controls part of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. According to the researchers, the Russian military “began active assault operations, crossing armored vehicles first through the Seim, and then through smaller rivers.”
On September 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi called the expected counteroffensive of the Russian military in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation and noted that “this is according to our Ukrainian plan.”
During the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region of Russia, Kyiv declared that it gained control over more than 1,200 kilometers of Russian territory.
It was reported that the operation was aimed at improving Kyiv’s position in the event of peace negotiations. Analysts also suggest that the operation is aimed at conveying to the Russians the seriousness of an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
It was the first foreign invasion of Russian territory since World War II.
