The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov noted that the potential of the Ukrainian defense industry allows for a significant increase in production, but this requires foreign investment.
That’s what he’s about stated during a panel discussion at the Yalta European Strategy forum.
Umyerov noted that in 2023, the production potential of the private and public defense industry sector amounted to 7 billion dollars. According to the minister, in 2025 this indicator may increase three times.
“In 2025, we can increase this indicator (the potential of the defense industry – EP) by three times. According to our estimates, with additional financing, the potential of defense production can reach 20 billion dollars,” Umyerov said.
According to Umyerov, the capabilities of Ukraine’s defense industry significantly exceed the amount of investments that the country can provide independently.
