The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported shooting down 53 drones launched by Russia on the night of September 16.

“The enemy attacked with attack UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type. From 8:00 p.m. on September 15 to 6:00 a.m. on September 16, the radio engineering forces of the Air Force detected and escorted 56 attack anti-aircraft missiles (launched from Kursk and Yeisk, RF). The main direction of the attack is Kyiv region,” the report says.

According to the Air Force, 53 attack UAVs were shot down in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Poltava, Sumy, Zaporizhzhya, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions.

“Three more enemy drones have been lost in location in several regions, previously without casualties or consequences,” the military said.

Earlier, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported that Kyiv suffered a massive attack by Russian troops on the night of September 16.

As the head of the city’s military administration, Serhiy Popko, said, this was the eighth air attack by the invaders on Kyiv, “and this is only in the first half of September.”

According to preliminary information, there were no casualties or damage in Kyiv.

On the evening of September 15, the Air Force reported that Russia had launched Shahedi over Ukraine, and the drones were moving in several directions at once.

The forces of the Russian Federation regularly attack Ukrainian regions with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, missiles, anti-aircraft missiles, and anti-aircraft missiles.

The leadership of Russia denies that the Russian army during a full-scale war inflicts targeted strikes on the civilian infrastructure of the cities and villages of Ukraine, killing the civilian population and destroying hospitals, schools, kindergartens, energy and water supply facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities and international organizations qualify these strikes as war crimes by the Russian Federation and emphasize that they are purposeful in nature.
