Ukraine is set to experience relatively warm weather in the coming days, although meteorologist Vitaliy Postryhany advises against switching to lighter clothing, as spring warmth can be misleading.
The country is currently under the influence of a European anticyclone, which is providing a reprieve from adverse weather conditions. Postryhany shared this information on his Facebook page, noting that the eastern periphery of the anticyclone is affecting regions like Cherkasy, where northern winds prevail.
According to Postryhany, this weather pattern results in frosty nights and sunny, spring-like days, contributing to a gradual melting of snow and the slow onset of spring flooding in local rivers.
Forecasts indicate that the weather will remain stable in the immediate future. On March 6, there may be a temporary increase in cloud cover, with light snow expected in some areas. However, overall improvements in weather conditions are anticipated.
The upcoming workweek promises warmer temperatures, ranging from +2º to +7º at night and reaching +8º to +13º during the day. As a cyclone from the southern Atlantic pushes the European anticyclone eastward, Cherkasy will find itself in the warmer western section of this system, according to the meteorologist.
Postryhany further indicated that significant precipitation is unlikely until at least March 20. He cautioned, “Do not rush to switch to lighter clothing. Spring warmth can often be deceptive.”
Potential Cold Snap Ahead
In related forecasts, meteorologist Natalka Didenko previously warned of a potential cold snap beginning March 9 across most regions of Ukraine, excluding the western areas. She stated, “I know this may not be welcome news, but a noticeable drop in temperatures is expected in the majority of regions.”
