As Ukraine transitions into March, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center has forecasted a period of calm weather with rising temperatures. The forecast covers February 28 through March 2, indicating no precipitation during this time.
Forecasters note that a predominantly cool air mass will linger above the region, with surface temperatures largely influenced by cloud cover. Overnight temperatures are expected to dip slightly below freezing, particularly in eastern areas and the Carpathians, while daytime highs will range from just above freezing to mild conditions.
Specifically, nighttime temperatures are projected to vary from 1°C to -6°C, with daytime readings expected to reach between 0°C and +7°C. The warmest conditions are anticipated in the western and southern parts of the country, where temperatures could rise to between +6°C and +13°C.
Weather Outlook for Kyiv
In Kyiv, stable and comfortable weather conditions will prevail, with minimal precipitation expected. The capital will be under the influence of a high-pressure system, although light rain may occur on March 3.
Nighttime temperatures in Kyiv may drop to -4°C, while daytime temperatures are expected to rise to slightly above freezing. The end of February will be cooler, but the first days of March are projected to be warmer, with temperatures reaching around +6°C on March 1, before falling to +3°C to +4°C thereafter.
Forecasters emphasize that March typically sees significant fluctuations between nighttime and daytime temperatures. A gradual warming trend is expected, with snow melting slowly, which is beneficial given the frozen ground and substantial snow cover.
