Ukrainian Book Bloggers’ Award Announces Shortlist of Most Discussed Titles

The Ukrainian Book Bloggers’ Award, part of the “Book Country” festival, has unveiled its shortlist featuring five of the most discussed books by Ukrainian authors. This award, held biannually, recognizes the titles that have sparked significant conversations across social media, book clubs, and blogs.

This spring, the competition for the title of “Book of the Season” focuses on works published in Ukraine between March 2025 and February 2026. The selection process occurs in two phases: first, a jury of book bloggers compiles a longlist based on their reading experiences and discussions. Subsequently, the public votes to determine the final five.

This season’s longlist included 30 titles, with 2,332 participants casting their votes in the second round on the award’s official website.

Top Five Titles from Reader Voting:

  • “Namul” by Yuliia Medvid’-Hnepa, Tempora, 2025
  • “Hemingway Knows Nothing” by Artur Dron’, VSL, 2025
  • “The Paths of Eurydice” by Nataliia Dovhopol, Vivat, 2026
  • “Dark Legacy: Brotherhood” by Maryna Nitsel’, RM, 2026
  • “Snowy Izium” by Alina Dykhman, Publishing House, 2025

The winner will be determined through anonymous voting by the jury. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place live during the “Book Country” festival from April 23 to 26 at VDNH.

The Ukrainian Book Bloggers’ Award was established within the framework of the “Book Country” festival. It is awarded twice a year, separately for Ukrainian and translated works. The aim of the award is to capture reader interest and identify the book that has generated the most discussion within the Ukrainian literary community over the year.

The “Book Country” festival will be held from April 23 to 26 at VDNH, with free admission.
