According to Buhrov, the university collaborates with partners not only from Europe but also from Japan, South Korea, India, and countries in the Middle East and Central Asia. He stated, “Internationalization is a tool for achieving our educational and scientific goals.”
Key priorities include participation in European university alliances, Erasmus+ programs, Horizon Europe, and specific NATO projects, both civil and educational.
In addition to its international efforts, the university actively supports its students. The rector highlighted the institution’s social responsibility, noting that approximately 1,800 to 1,900 students receive social scholarships each month. “The university effectively acts as a provider of the state’s social responsibility,” Buhrov remarked, adding that a psychological service and a veterans’ center are available for support.
Motivating students is another critical aspect. Buhrov mentioned that the university conducted research on student motivation and future aspirations, revealing that even during crises, students demonstrate a strong desire for success.
Buhrov expressed his personal connection to the university, stating, “My motivation is the university. I came here in 1984, and my entire life is intertwined with it. Here is my family, colleagues, and community, and I take pride in the university’s resilience during the full-scale invasion.”
He also announced his intention to participate in the upcoming rector elections if possible, stressing the importance of maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. “It is crucial for the academic community to have the opportunity to make its own choices without external interference,” he explained.
Buhrov noted that the university is restoring key indicators to pre-war levels and demonstrating stability in the development of education and science. “By 2025, we expect to regain many pre-war metrics. This is the result of systematic work, and on this foundation, we can move forward,” he added.
