Four Killed in Russian Shelling of Residential Area in Kherson

Four individuals lost their lives following a Russian artillery strike on a residential neighborhood in Kherson, Ukraine. The attack occurred around 1:30 PM local time, targeting civilians near an apartment building.

According to Yaroslav Shanko, the head of the Kherson City Military Administration, two elderly women were killed instantly. Additionally, an 85-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man were critically injured and transported to a local hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

Shanko stated, “The injuries sustained by the 85-year-old woman and the 63-year-old man were fatal, despite all efforts by medical staff. This latest shelling by Russian occupation forces has claimed the lives of four people.”

The Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that the artillery attack specifically targeted a residential area, prompting an investigation into the incident as a potential war crime under Article 438 of the Criminal Code.

Recent Russian Attacks in Ukraine

In a separate incident, on the night of February 27, Russian forces launched a drone assault on the Odesa region, resulting in significant damage to both residential and critical infrastructure. Reports indicate that a 43-year-old man and a 3-year-old girl were injured during this attack.

The drone strikes ignited a large fire in a container area, affecting food supplies and damaging facilities in one of the major ports of Odesa and a port along the Danube. A structure at a nearby kindergarten was also reported to have been destroyed in the fire.

A recent artillery strike in Kherson has resulted in the deaths of four civilians, including two elderly women. This incident is part of ongoing hostilities, with another attack in Odesa causing injuries and infrastructure damage.
