First Apartments Handed Over to Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv

The Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv has received its first 15 apartments in the “Eureka” residential complex, developed by Stolitsa Group. This handover follows a memorandum signed after the bankruptcy of the Arkada Bank.

The apartments are designated as official housing for university staff, aimed at supporting faculty and employees. University officials emphasize that this initiative is more than just providing living space; it serves as a vital resource for their workforce.

This achievement results from effective collaboration among investors, the university, and the developer, all working together to fulfill commitments outlined in the memorandum and advance one of the most challenging residential projects in the capital’s real estate market.

Meanwhile, construction on additional buildings within the “Eureka” complex is actively progressing. Work had halted in 2020 when Arkada Bank was declared insolvent. Last year, three buildings (No. 14, No. 15, and No. 18) and a kindergarten with a capacity of 110 children were completed.

Currently, construction is underway on eight more buildings, with plans to resume work on three additional sites soon.

Eduard Sokolovsky, CEO of Stolitsa Group, stated that the establishment of investor cooperatives has been a key factor in accelerating the project’s progress. This approach has facilitated the completion and commissioning of the buildings.

Sokolovsky noted that the project exemplifies how businesses can fulfill social responsibilities even amid challenging circumstances, such as the ongoing war.

“We have achieved results in terms of completion, ownership transfer, and the handover of apartments to the University, fulfilling obligations to the investors who trusted the cooperative leaders to finance the completion of their investments. This is a remarkable example of how private enterprises can serve a social function in difficult times,” he remarked.

The project is being carried out under a memorandum for the completion of Arkada’s facilities, which was signed in 2021 with the involvement of the state, Kyiv City State Administration, investors, and Stolitsa Group.

The Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv has officially received its first 15 apartments in the 'Eureka' residential complex, marking a significant step in the completion of the project. This initiative, part of a broader collaboration, aims to provide essential housing for university staff and demonstrates the potential for private enterprises to contribute socially during challenging times.
