Cold Snap Expected in Kyiv with Temperatures Dropping to 7°C

Kyiv residents should prepare for a noticeable drop in temperatures over the coming days, with daytime highs expected to reach only 7°C. The coldest day is forecasted for Wednesday, March 18, according to the Ukrainian Hydro-Meteorological Center.

Forecasters noted that while last week brought unusually warm April-like temperatures, the city will revert to typical March conditions this week. Nighttime temperatures in the Kyiv region are projected to range from 2°C to -3°C, while daytime highs will vary between 5°C and 11°C.

From March 17 to March 21, a high-pressure system will dominate the weather in Kyiv and surrounding areas, leading to dry conditions. However, brisk winds will introduce colder air, making the chill particularly noticeable during the day.

In a related forecast, meteorologist Vitaliy Postryhan has indicated that spring warmth will temporarily recede, with a brief cold spell and potential light precipitation expected this week. From Tuesday to Thursday, a cyclone will bring increased cloud cover and lower temperatures, with daytime highs between 5°C and 10°C and nighttime lows dropping to -3°C. By Friday, an anticyclone is anticipated to stabilize the weather, resulting in minimal precipitation and a slight rise in temperatures. The weekend is expected to be dry and sunny, with significant warming predicted after March 23.
