Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that a final decision on the supply of Taurus missiles from Germany has not yet been made. Speaking to reporters in Munich, he emphasized the ongoing discussions with German officials.
“As for Taurus, we currently do not have a decision from the German side,” Zelensky stated. He noted that negotiations with Germany, as well as with other partners, aim to find a balance between Ukraine’s needs and the capabilities and intentions of its allies, acknowledging that each nation operates based on its own considerations.
“I cannot choose everything. Of course, I would like to select everything during the war, but I cannot do that. I hope you understand why I cannot. I have to make choices, and I choose what I can obtain right now,” he added.
In late May 2025, German politician Friedrich Merz remarked that there are no longer any restrictions on the range of weapons, citing agreements with European allies and the United States. He indicated that allies had long abandoned their demands regarding weapon supplies, describing the situation as a reflection of ongoing developments over the months. Merz also mentioned that he would not engage in public debates concerning the Taurus missile supply.
Later, in an interview with ZDF, Merz stated that supplying Ukraine with long-range Taurus cruise missiles is “within the realm of possibility.” While he confirmed that the delivery of Taurus missiles could happen, he did not provide specific details. Previously, he had indicated to ZDF that there were no plans to supply the Taurus missiles to Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Zelensky has clarified that Germany has yet to finalize its decision on supplying Taurus missiles. Discussions continue as both nations seek to balance military needs with available resources.
