Ukrainian Forces Target Drone Base in Crimea, Destroy Key Military Assets

In a significant military operation, Ukrainian forces reportedly destroyed a drone training base in Crimea, which had been occupied by Russian forces. This action occurred on the night of April 2, 2026, and involved the use of advanced weaponry to target multiple assets.

According to the commander of the Special Operations Forces, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, the operation was executed by the 1st Detachment of Special Operations and the 9th Directorate of Military Intelligence (HUR). The strike targeted the Orion drone training facility located near Kirovsk, in the area of Krasnosilsk, Crimea.

Brovdi confirmed that the operation resulted in the complete destruction of the base, including four Orion drones. Additionally, a transport aircraft, the AN-72P, and a Soviet-era mobile radar system known as the P-37 “Mech” were also destroyed during the strike.

The Ukrainian forces utilized domestically produced middle strike FP-2 systems, which are equipped with warheads weighing between 60 and 100 kilograms. Brovdi shared video footage of the strikes, detailing the characteristics of the targeted military assets.

This operation highlights the ongoing conflict in the region and the strategic importance of drone technology in modern warfare. The destruction of the Orion base is seen as a setback for Russian military capabilities in Crimea, where drone operations have been increasingly significant.

Ukrainian forces successfully targeted and destroyed a drone training base in Crimea, along with key military assets, in a nighttime operation. This strike underscores the ongoing conflict and the strategic role of drones in contemporary warfare.
