Ukrainian Forces Report 57 Russian Attacks Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Ukrainian General Staff has reported a total of 57 Russian attacks since the beginning of the day, highlighting the ongoing intensity of the conflict in various regions.

The most significant concentration of these assaults occurred in the Hulyaipole direction, where Russian forces launched 20 attacks in the vicinity of Hulyaipole and towards Dobropillia, Pryluky, Zaliznychne, Zeleny, Varvarivka, and the Hulyaipole area. Five skirmishes are still ongoing in this sector.

In the Pokrovsk direction, which had previously been noted for its high intensity of fighting, Russian troops attempted to displace Ukrainian forces 15 times from their positions in the areas of Dorožne, Bilytske, Rodynske, Shevchenko, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Molodetske, and Novopidhirodne. One engagement continues in this area.

Combat operations are also persisting in the South Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Kostiantynivka, and Oleksandrivka sectors. However, no active offensive actions from the enemy have been recorded in the Orikhiv and Dnipro directions.

According to the General Staff, there were 230 combat engagements reported on February 26, with the enemy attempting to advance on Ukrainian positions 35 times in the Hulyaipole direction alone.

Recently, the Donbas.Realii project of Radio Free Europe indicated that the Russian army may be preparing for a significant new offensive this spring or summer, likely targeting the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration and/or the Orikhiv-Zaporizhzhia area. Analyst Kostyantyn Mashovets from the Information Resistance group suggested that this could represent a final major push for Russia on the front, as they are facing dwindling resources and increasing economic challenges domestically.

As winter draws to a close, Ukrainian Defense Forces have reportedly adjusted Russia’s plans by initiating counteroffensive operations at the junction of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, pushing the aggressor back from Pokrovsk and further east from Orikhiv. Reports from Z-publik indicate that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is ongoing in this area.

On February 23, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that since late January, airborne troops and associated units have regained control over 400 square kilometers of territory and eight populated areas in the Oleksandrivka direction.

The Ukrainian military reported 57 Russian attacks in various regions, particularly in Hulyaipole and Pokrovsk. As the conflict continues, analysts suggest that a potential Russian offensive may be on the horizon, while Ukrainian forces have made territorial gains in recent weeks.
