Two teenagers were rescued by Ukrainian border guards after falling through the ice on the Kuchurgan Liman, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGSU).
The incident was reported by the head of the local village council, prompting immediate action from border patrol units. A rescue team from the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi squad was dispatched to the scene using an air-cushion boat.
One of the teenagers managed to reach the shore on his own and called for help. Prior to the arrival of professional rescuers, local residents attempted to assist the children by throwing a rubber boat onto the thin ice. The boy was able to grab hold of the boat, but the girl remained in the frigid water.
Upon arrival, the border guards promptly pulled the children from the water and transported them to shore, where a medical team was already waiting to provide assistance.
