Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts Majority of Russian Drone Attack

In the early hours of April 8, Russian forces launched a significant drone assault on Ukraine, deploying 176 strike drones, including types such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. Ukrainian Air Force reported that their defense systems successfully neutralized 146 of these drones during the operation.

The attack originated from multiple locations, including Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Chauda in occupied Crimea. Approximately 120 of the drones involved were identified as Shahed models.

By 8:00 AM, Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare divisions, and mobile fire groups had effectively intercepted or suppressed 146 Russian drones across northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country. The assault resulted in confirmed strikes from 24 drones at twelve different sites, with debris reported in one area.

“The attack is ongoing, and several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Please adhere to safety regulations,” the Air Force stated.

A coordinated drone attack by Russian forces on Ukraine was largely thwarted by Ukrainian air defense systems, which intercepted 146 out of 176 drones. The incident highlights ongoing tensions and military engagements in the region.
