Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts Majority of Russian Drone Attack

In the early hours of April 7, the Russian military launched a significant drone assault on Ukraine, deploying 110 strike drones including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. Ukrainian Air Force officials reported that their air defense systems successfully intercepted 77 of these drones during the operation.

The attack commenced around 6 PM on April 6, with drones reportedly launched from various locations, including Bryansk, Oryol, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from occupied territories in Crimea and Donetsk. Approximately 70 of the drones were identified as Shahed models.

By 8 AM, Ukrainian forces, utilizing aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups, had neutralized or suppressed 77 Russian drones across northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.

Reports indicated that 31 drones struck 14 different sites, with debris falling in nine locations. The Ukrainian Air Force urged citizens to remain vigilant as the attack was ongoing.

“The attack continues, and enemy drones are present in the airspace. Please adhere to safety regulations,” the Air Force stated.

A coordinated drone attack by Russia on Ukraine saw Ukrainian air defenses intercept a significant number of incoming threats. Despite the scale of the assault, the majority of drones were neutralized before reaching their targets.
