In the early hours of April 1, Russian forces launched a significant drone attack on Ukraine, deploying a total of 339 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including Shahed and other models. Ukrainian Air Force officials reported that 298 of these drones were successfully intercepted.
The primary targets of the assault included regions in Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Milleryovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as areas in Crimea and Donetsk under temporary occupation. Approximately 200 of the drones involved in this operation were identified as Shahed models.
The defense against the aerial strike involved a coordinated response from Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare forces, and mobile fire groups. By 08:00 local time, the air defense system had effectively neutralized or suppressed 298 UAVs across the country.
- Reports indicate that 20 drones struck 11 locations directly, while debris from the intercepted drones fell in five separate areas.
“The attack is ongoing, with around 20 enemy UAVs still in the airspace. Please adhere to safety regulations,” military officials advised.
