Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts Majority of Drone Attacks Amid Ongoing Assault

Since the evening of March 5, Russian forces have launched a significant drone assault on Ukraine, deploying 141 strike drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas types. Ukrainian air defense successfully neutralized 111 of these drones.

As of 08:30 local time, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that the majority of the hostile drones were intercepted across various regions of the country, including the north, south, and east. The attack has seen 24 drones hit 16 locations, with debris from downed drones reported at one site.

The drones were reportedly launched from several locations in Russia, including the cities of Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from the temporarily occupied Crimean territories of Hvardiyiske and Chayka. Approximately 100 of the drones involved in the assault were identified as Shahed models.

Ukrainian defense forces employed a combination of aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups to counter the aerial threat. As of the latest updates, the attack remains ongoing, with multiple hostile drones still active in Ukrainian airspace.

Russian forces have intensified drone attacks on Ukraine, with Ukrainian air defenses intercepting a significant number of these threats. The situation remains active, with ongoing efforts to neutralize remaining drones in the airspace.
