Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Investigates Health Status of 2,000 Military Personnel

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has initiated an investigation concerning the health status of approximately 2,000 military personnel, who are suspected of being unfit for service due to health issues. This revelation was made by Olga Reshetilova, the ombudsperson for the rights of military personnel and their families, during an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

While the specific military unit involved has not been disclosed, Reshetilova emphasized the importance of understanding the circumstances that led to this situation. The investigation will involve officials from the Ministry of Defense and the command of the Ground Forces to determine the point at which a systemic failure occurred.

“It is essential to thoroughly examine how this situation arose, at which stage this mass violation took place. Was it at the recruitment center, the medical commission, or within the military unit itself, or was a decision made at a higher level?” she explained.

Reshetilova further noted that this issue cannot simply be acknowledged as a fact, given that it pertains to the mobilization of 2,000 individuals. The Ministry of Defense will assess how such a situation could develop in the first place, she stated.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is investigating the potential unfitness for service of 2,000 military personnel, following concerns raised by rights ombudsperson Olga Reshetilova. The inquiry aims to identify the systemic failures that led to this situation during the mobilization process.
