Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that the European Union and partner countries are preparing significant support packages for Ukraine, aimed to be finalized by the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion on February 24.
During a press briefing, Zelensky emphasized the need for a comprehensive energy support package, alongside additional military assistance, particularly in the area of air defense systems. He stated, “I believe we can now work on the largest energy package. Separately, we will focus on missiles for air defense. We will also work on other aspects to strengthen our military capabilities.” This information was reported by various Ukrainian news outlets.
Zelensky indicated that all partners agreed to finalize these support packages within the next 10 to 11 days. He highlighted the importance of addressing Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and military needs, stating, “Ukraine will compile and send partners a list of needs for supporting our energy infrastructure and military sector. We expect support, with attention also on security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe.”
In addition to his discussions on military and energy support, Zelensky met with several European leaders, including Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, and Finland’s President Alexander Stubb. The conversations included diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable peace.
The Munich Security Conference (MSC), taking place from February 13 to 15 this year, has gathered numerous European leaders, alongside Zelensky and the Ukrainian delegation, to discuss pressing security issues.
