Ukraine Reports Ongoing Hostilities Despite Ceasefire Declaration

Since the commencement of the Easter ceasefire, Ukraine’s military has reported no missile or aerial strikes, nor drone attacks. However, Russian forces have engaged in 115 assault actions and conducted 1,355 artillery shellings against Ukrainian positions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As of now, the Ukrainian military has recorded a total of 7,696 violations of the ceasefire by Russian forces. The General Staff noted that while Russia is generally adhering to the ceasefire it declared, combat operations continue in certain areas, including the use of FPV drones and kamikaze drones such as the “Italmas,” “Lanzet,” and “Molniya.”

On the front lines today, there have been 91 clashes. The highest number of attacks—22—occurred in the Pokrovsk direction, where Russian forces attempted to advance in the vicinity of the settlements of Bilitske, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Zatyshok, Hryshyne, Pokrovsk, Udachne, Molodetske, Muravka, and Novopavlivka. In the Kostiantynivka direction, Russian troops launched 14 assaults on Ukrainian defensive positions, while 12 assaults were reported in the Huliaipole area.

Fighting is also ongoing in the Northern Slobozhansky, Kursk, Southern Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Oleksandrivka directions. However, no assault actions have been reported in the Orikhiv and Dniprovsk directions.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has accused Ukraine of committing 1,971 violations of the ceasefire.

On the evening of April 9, the Kremlin announced that President Vladimir Putin had instructed Russian military forces to cease hostilities across all fronts from 16:00 on April 11 until the end of the day on April 12. However, he cautioned that troops should remain prepared to respond to any potential provocations or aggressive actions from Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his country’s readiness for an Easter ceasefire, coinciding with the celebrations observed by Orthodox and Greek-Catholic communities on April 12. On April 11, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, was tasked by the President to ensure compliance with the ceasefire.

The ceasefire is expected to be observed on land, at sea, and in the air during the Easter celebrations.

Despite a declared ceasefire for Easter, hostilities continue in various regions of Ukraine, with significant artillery shelling and assaults reported by both sides. The situation remains tense as military operations persist alongside the ceasefire agreement.
