The U.S. military has reported the destruction of 17 Iranian ships during its ongoing military operation, dubbed “Epic Fury.” This announcement was made by Admiral Bradley Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), via a post on social media platform X.
In his statement, Admiral Cooper emphasized the focus on neutralizing threats, stating, “We are also sinking the Iranian fleet – an entire fleet. We have now destroyed 17 Iranian vessels, including the most capable Iranian submarine, which now has a dent in its hull.”
The operation has seen the deployment of strategic bombers, including the Northrop B-2 Spirit and Rockwell B-1 Lancer. According to Cooper, over 50,000 American military personnel and more than 200 aircraft are involved, with strikes being conducted around the clock.
Cooper further detailed that approximately 2,000 targets have been hit, utilizing over 2,000 munitions. He noted a significant weakening of Iran’s air defenses and the destruction of hundreds of Iranian ballistic missiles, launch sites, and drones.
Since the operation’s commencement, Iran has reportedly launched over 500 ballistic missiles and more than 2,000 drones in retaliation against U.S. forces, Israel, and U.S. allies.
Background events leading to this escalation include joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28. Following these actions, President Donald Trump confirmed the initiation of a military campaign in Iran. As of March 3, reports indicate that six American servicemen have lost their lives as a result of the operation, with Trump warning of potential further casualties after the deaths of the first three service members were announced.
