The United States and Israel have initiated a significant military campaign against Iran, dubbed “Epic Fury,” with the objective of dismantling the nation’s missile arsenal and naval capabilities. This operation aims to thwart the activities of terrorist organizations linked to the Iranian regime and ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons.
On February 28, President Donald J. Trump articulated the goals of the operation to the American public. Key objectives include the destruction of Iran’s missile industry, the elimination of its naval forces, and the prevention of the nation from obtaining nuclear capabilities.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt emphasized the necessity of these actions, stating, “Preventing threats from this radical regime and its terrorist leaders is a clear and essential goal. The elimination of terrorists is beneficial for America.” She noted that 49 high-ranking leaders of the Iranian regime, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have already been killed.
Levitt highlighted that despite a previous U.S. operation, “Northern Hammer,” which targeted Iran’s primary nuclear facilities, the regime remained committed to revitalizing its nuclear program and refused to engage in negotiations.
In the lead-up to this military initiative, the U.S. and Israel conducted a targeted airstrike on the residence of Ayatollah Khamenei, dropping 30 bombs and resulting in the deaths of Khamenei and other key figures in the Iranian leadership. In retaliation, Iran launched extensive ballistic missile and drone attacks on American bases and allied territories in the Middle East, including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE. Furthermore, Iran has blocked the Strait of Hormuz in response to the military actions taken by the U.S. and its allies.
